This piece went through so many drastic changes throughout being drawn, let me jsut say. He went from having a full body to losing his knees, hips, before being narrowed right down into being a portrait. Yikes.

As he spoke, there were two things that drew my attention in particular. He was much shorter than the man he spoke with, smaller in height one might guess upon first hearing him speak - though he made up for it in the broad frame of his torso. The other unexpected detail of this man was the way that his lips just seemed to curl up as though drawn by fish hooks. A impish- knowing smile that had the power to disarm or taunt with the slightest chuckle or jeer. There he was. A complex and quizzical puzzle; his gambits for things piratical and eroticism were known to be very near identical: little time wasted, straight up alongside, every gun bared, the prize boarded with no delay. Yet, when that devil’s eyes would find mine - studying, observing, he would treat me with difference. Taunting as that grin would spread across those thin lips and dare me to break contact, daring me to submit or feign ignorance.

The faces in that room were ones of recognition. His face was none unknown. My captain was no secret unto himself, and his crimes were further from.
